At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year, NVIDIA unveiled several new products including the much-anticipated RTX 5000 series gaming GPUs, an AI model to train robots, a new desktop computer, and DLSS 4, its next-gen upscaling technology. To make gaming more accessible, the company also announced that it would soon be setting up a GeForce RTX-powered data centre and expanding its popular GeForce Now cloud gaming service to India.
In case you are wondering, GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service powered by NVIDIA’s RTX graphic cards, which allows gamers to enjoy the latest games without having to invest in expensive hardware.
In a blog post, NVIDIA said that the new data centre will be powered by its GeForce RTX 4080 GPUs, meaning you will be able to play the latest AAA titles in 4K resolution at 60fps. While NVIDIA hasn’t specified a date on when the service will be going live for users in India, the company did say that it will be available sometime in the first half of 2025.
To give you a quick recap, GeForce Now has a free ad-supported tier that lets you play games at full HD resolution (1080p) for up to an hour. GeForce Now also has a paid Performance tier, which supports resolution of 1440p at 60fps. NVIDIA also said that “gamers in the region can look forward to the launch of Ultimate memberships,” which offer the shortest queue times, 100 hours of monthly playtime with a session limit of eight hours and lets you play the latest AAA titles in 4K resolution at 240fps.
The most expensive plan lets you use an RTX 4080-powered machine and happens to be the only tier that allows gamers to use DLSS. It looks like the data centre will be set up somewhere in Mumbai. Currently, there are no details on the pricing, so we will have to wait a few more months before NVIDIA shares more details.
